Enjoying a plant-based diet after Veganuary

Were one of the 400,000 people that signed up to Veganuary and enjoyed a plant-based diet? Or one of the many more who attempted to go vegan for the month of January without making an official pledge?

If so, congratulations! Your month-long challenge to embrace a plant-based diet is almost over!

But what happens next?

Was Veganuary simply a quest to complete after a festive season of over-indulgence, or will it lead to a real lifestyle change?

At The Meatless Farm we’re all about reducing meat consumption. As our Meatless Consumption Target shows, swapping to eating just one more plant-based meal per week can make a real difference.

Making the simple switch from red meat to plant-based recipes just once a week would cut the USA’s greenhouse gas emissions by a staggering 470 million tonnes. That’s the equivalent of taking 102 million cars off the road. Small change, massive impact.

So, even if you’re not intending on going ‘fully’ vegan or vegetarian, we hope your month-long switch to plant-based has at least shown that going meat-free on a frequent basis isn’t as daunting as you first thought.

Here’s our guide to making plant-based a regular part of your lifestyle going forward…

Embrace Meatless Monday

Making something part of your regular routine is an easy way to help it become the norm. Set aside a regular day, such as Meatless Monday, where you only cook up plant-based recipes. Or go one step further and make Monday to Thursday meat free and allow yourself a ‘treat’ at the weekend?

Try different plant-based diet recipes

While you don’t have to reinvent the wheel and learn a new method of cooking, embracing a plant-based food gives you the chance to try something new! Why not branch out and try foods and meat-free recipes > that you’ve never tried before? Doing this and stepping away from the same old keeps your weekly menu fresh, tasty and exciting.
