Meatless Farm Cinnamon Sausage Rolls

Meatless Cinnamon Sausage Rolls

Makes 6 large rolls, or 12 small
45 mins, plus 60 mins rise time

Perfect for a lazy Sunday brunch, these Meatless Cinnamon Sausage Rolls are the perfect mix of sweet and savoury.

Ingredients

Dough:

  • ½ cup warm milk (about 115 degrees)
  • 2 tsp instant dry yeast
  • 1 large egg
  • ½ cup butter melted
  • 2 ¼ cup flour
  • ½ tsp salt
  • ¼ cup sugar

 

Filling:

  • ½ cup butter warm
  • ½ cup pack brown sugar
  • 1 tbsp cinnamon
  • 1 lb. Meatless Farm Breakfast patties, (chopped fine)

 

Icing:

  • 1 Cup Powder Sugar
  • 2 Tbsp lemon Juice
  • ¼ tsp Vanilla

Preparation

  1. Make the Dough: In a large mixing bowl stir together the warm milk, yeast and let it sit for 4 minutes until the yeast starts to bubble. Add egg, butter, flour, salt and sugar. Mix for 2 minutes using strong spoon, then kneed with you clean hands for 2 minutes. Cover the dough and let it raise for 30 minutes in a warm location.
  2. Prep the Filling: In a separate bowl add warm butter, sugar, Cinnamon and minced Meatless Farm Sausage and set to the side.
  3. Make the Icing: Add the powdered sugar, lemon juice and vanilla in a small bowl and mix until smooth, add a tsp of water if the icing is too thick.
  4. Assemble the Muffins: Flour a clean working surface add the dough and slowly roll the dough with a floured rolling pin into a 12”x16” rectangle, using a spoon spread the filling to thinly cover the entire surface of the dough. Start at the bottom corner and slowly start rolling the straight across to the other bottom corner. Now roll the dough up until you have on long rope of dough. Cut 6 2” slices of dough and place them ring side up in an oiled 9”x13” pans. Cover this pan and let the raise for 30 minutes.
  5. Bake: Preheat your oven to 350 degree Fahrenheit or 176 degrees Celsius. After 30 minutes place the pan of rolls in the oven and let them cook for 24 minutes or until the top of the rolls are lightly brown. Pull from the oven and place on a cooling rack for 30 minutes.
  6. Ice and Serve: Drizzle the icing over the Cinnamon sausage rolls and enjoy.
